Caroline Kennedy, daughter of the President John F. Kennedy and niece of Senator Robert F.Kennedy campaigns for senate seat to be vacated by Hillary Clinton.

Caroline Kennedy has made it known that she is seeking the United States Senate seat in New York being vacated as Hillary Clinton becomes Secretary of State in the Obama administration. With the diagnosis that her uncle, Senator Ted Kennedy, has terminal brain cancer, it could mean that the family dynasty will continue with a woman at its helm.

Caroline Kennedy Early Years

Caroline Bouvier Kennedy was born on November 27, 1957 in New York, New York to Jacqueline and John F. Kennedy. She and her brother John were their only surviving children. .Her elder sister was stillborn 15 months before Caroline was born. Her younger brother Patrick was born prematurely and died two days after his birth. She grew up in the White House during her father's presidency and was often shown on TV walking her father to the Oval Office or riding her pony on the White House lawn. Her father, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated by a sniper on November 22, 1963 as was her uncle, U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy when he ran for president.

Caroline Kennedy Adult Life in New York

Caroline and her brother John moved to New York when her mother married Greek Shipping magnate, Aristotle Onassis. Caroline attended New York private schools and went to Radcliffe College for her undergraduate studies. She worked as an intern for the New York Daily News and also was a political intern during the summer for her uncle Ted.

In 1979, Carolyn worked at the Metropolitan Museum of Art where she met her future husband, Edwin Schlossberg, an interactive-media designer. They were married on July 19, 1986. and had their first child, Rose in 1989, to be followed by Tatiana and Jack. Caroline graduated from Columbia Law School in1988. Now that Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, daughter of President John F. Kennedy, is seeking to fill the soon-to-be vacated Senate seat of Hillary Clinton, she appears to be a strong candidate for the office. If she succeeds, a Kennedy woman will continue the political dynasty. During a year when Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin made political headlines, it may also be the right time for her to enter the scene.
