Pastor Steven L. Anderson started his Tempe, Arizona based Faithful Word Baptist Church on Christmas Day of 2005. Anderson is also the face of hatred and bigotry.

On August 16, 2009, Pastor Anderson gave his devoted congregants a fiery sermon titled "Why I Hate Barack Obama." He pointed to the Bible to legitimize subterfuge of equal rights for women and gays. He also used the Bible to call for the death of the President owing to Obama's pro-choice position. Anderson cited Psalm 11:4, "...The Lord tryeth the wicked; and him that loveth violence, his soul hateth."

"God does not love everybody. In fact, there are some people that God hates", Anderson said. He preached that "God hates people who are violent and deceitful", and one of those people is President Obama, according to Anderson.

Anderson openly wished for Obama to be "melted like a snail" because he's "pro-abortion", and abortions entail the "use of saline, which melts babies like snails." Apparently the violence against women in theocratic patriarchies is okay. This is condoned by the misogynist Bronze Age mythological deity whose dogma is responsible for centuries of legitimized oppression and discrimination against women; and violence against those who support women's fundamental human right to bodily autonomy and self-determination.

But the International Criminal Court might view Anderson's desired society differently. Compulsory pregnancy and forced childbirth is a human rights violation and a crime against humanity pursuant to Article 7(g) of the Rome Statute.

Pastor Anderson Called Male OB/GYN's "Adulterers"

This is not the first time Pastor Anderson spewed toxic bile from his pulpit. In February of 2007, he delivered a sermon titled "Physicians of No Value" where he exhorted his male congregants to forbid their wives from being examined or treated by male OB/GYN's — even in the capacity of helping a woman through a difficult or dangerous birth.

Anderson claimed that "any man who looks at a woman's private parts hath committed adultery already in his heart," and that women have been delivering babies for 6,000 years without the assistance of male doctors. He said that only perverted men would enter a medical field where seeing women's genitalia was involved, and he compared obstetrics and gynecology to pornography.

"Sir, if you let your wife go to a male gynecologist, you need to get right with God," Anderson said.

Why Are "Moderate" Christians Silent?

On the day after Anderson delivered his pious hate speech calling for the death of the President, one of his male flock showed up at a town hall meeting sporting an assault rifle. The First Amendment is not a free pass to suborn terrorism or commit crimes of sedition or criminal solicitation. Yet, America's "moral" compass is skewed by the silence of moderate Christians. Silence is tacit approval.

Moderate Christians were also silent about the death of Dr. George Tiller who was gunned down in church by an ultra-conservative Christian male. Dr. Tiller was only one of three abortion providers to serve women in medical need of a late term abortion (an abortion after 13 weeks gestation). One of Tiller's patients was a 9 year old girl who had been impregnated by her father who had molested her.

Apparently, the right to life is negotiable for women and girls in this patriarchal religious culture war.

Freedom of Religion Ends Where Terrorism Begins

Cheryl Lindsey Seelhoff remarked on the increasing oppression of women in "the land of the free." She is an escapee from Quiverfull, one of many Christian patriarchy movements that have been overtaking the US. She said that the increasing political influence of conservative Christians translated to increased assaults on equal rights for women.

Seelhoff ponders: While war is waged to liberate the women in Afghanistan, who is liberating women and girls in America?

If they "let" their wives? What disgusting sexism. I would hope a man insists that his wife see whomever she feels is the best.
